There many benefits to using a shower water filter. If you are an intelligent and health-conscious person, then you know your local water company isnt giving you the cleanest or purest water. In fact, its only job is to make the water safe for consumption and use — not make it healthy.

To make it safe, they use one poison — chlorine — to kill worse poisons. Regardless, by the time it gets into your home it has all kinds of unnecessary and potentially harmful chemicals that have been known to cause cancer.

But hey, that’s no big deal right?  You can have a filtering system attached to your sink, or use a water container that filters the water, or maybe you can just drink a lot of bottled water.  Well, here’s some shocking news — unfiltered water is up to three times more harmful when used to shower with than it is to drink!

The skin is your body’s largest organ.  It absorbs water through its pores.  When you shower, it will absorb the chemicals in the unfiltered water.  And if that isnt bad enough, when you take a shower, if the water is hot enough it will convert to steam. Guess what else converts to steam?  Chlorine.  Chlorine will then become airborne and enter into your lungs, and eventually into your bloodstream.

Additionally, the chlorine is known to cause flaky skin and dry hair.

There are two ways to stop all these unnecessary health risks from occurring.  You can either use a shower water filter or a whole house water filter system.

If you have ever changed or installed a shower head before, and you can install a shower water filter.  It is a device you attach to the showerhead stem, which will capture and filter out toxins.

There are a variety of different shower water filters on the market.  Some of them are large and bulky, while others are small and non-obtrusive.  Whatever the case, you’re sure to find one that will work for your shower, and still look nice.

Another option you should consider is a whole house water filtering system.  In this case, there is a filter attached to the main inlet of your water supply.  This means that all the water that goes into your home is filtered and the toxins are removed.  Not only can you enjoy a healthy shower, but all of your water will be filtered, even water used for the dish washer and clothes washer.

Many people use a shower head water filter because the thought of immersing their body in chlorine and a bunch of harmful chemicals does not sound like a good idea.  Maybe it’s time you make the leap as well.  In this article, I will give you some of the health risks involved with showering without a shower head water filter.

Know what your body’s largest organ is?  It’s your skin.  Your skin has the ability to absorb things.  If you are in the sun, it will absorb its rays.  And if you are dousing it in chemicals, it will absorb those as well.  What kind of chemicals are in unfiltered water?  Well, here’s a short list — lead, chlorine, various pesticides, house hold cleaning products, and industrial waste.

Let’s start with some of the minor health risks.  Has your scalp and hair felt dry?  Or has your skin become flaky, blotchy or irritated?  It very well could be from what’s come out of the nozzle of your showerhead.  Chlorine and other chemicals found in unfiltered water have been known to harm and damage the skin and hair.

With that said, these chemicals also have long-term effects.  They destroy natural oils found in the skin that are used to prevent aging and damage to the skin by the sun.  These are just some side effects for known chemicals in water.

These do not include some of the fertilizers and household cleaners, as well as other industrial waste, that sometimes run into the water supply before it reaches your home. All this is easily preventable with a shower head water filter.

And if that isnt enough, a lot of these chemicals have the ability to become airborne, and be breathed in.  When you take a warm shower, some of the water is converted into steam.  Some of the chemicals in that water are then released into the air.  You get to breathe them in.  This causes all sorts of respiratory problems, and can cause or inflame asthma.

All this can be prevented with a shower head water filter that filters out all these chemicals.  There are many on the market that do just that, and many of them are inexpensive and easy to install.  It only requires that you replace the filter in them every so often.  That’s it.  In conclusion, it’s obvious that every health-conscious person should filter the water that comes into their home before they use it to shower and bathe in.
